Gotta LUV Hitchcock!
« on: June 05, 2016, 06:28:31 PM »

Got 4 of his movies: "Vertigo" & "Rear Window" with Jimmy Stewart & 2 of the top leading ladies of the time, Kim Novak & Grace Kelly. Then Cary Grant in "To Catch a Thief", with Grace Kelly (again), and "North by Northwest costarring Eva Marie Saint . My favorite of the 4 is "Vertigo" -  love the locations in San Francisco & the Mission Church @ San Juan Bautista. 8)

We have the "Decades" channel on Xfinity.  Don't usually watch it, but the Dick Cavett Show was on one day last week and Alfred Hitchcock was his guest.  Ended up watching the whole show.  The man was really entertaining and witty to listen to, enjoyed the interview as much as I would have enjoyed watching one of his movies!!

Rear Window and To catch a Thief are two of my favorites also.  Strangers on a Train is another, great thriller, long before computerized special effects.  They made you think.  Probably lost on today's viewers.

Hitchcock understood that terror comes from the imagination.

"Good Even ning"

I think that's why his television series, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, never had any direct or graphic violence shown. The victim just was found to have "Gone West". Often times the "how of the going" was the frightening element.
