« on: May 13, 2016, 02:36:57 PM »

Saw this in a sporting goods stuff site and for the price, I'm thinking of getting one just for the f** of having one of those  :)

I brought one home with me when I left Pakistan in 1990 - actually picked it up out on the Indian border - think I paid the equivalent of a dollar for it.  The old boy I got it off of thought I was crazy for spending so much money on it.

The Kukri would probably make a good heavy duty camp knife. I prefer a Bowie style blade though. I have one of these Colt Pathfinder knives that I initially bought as a dive knife but found its way to my hunting pack

This knife is capable of splitting kindling or chopping through the brisket bone of an elk. I also have a couple of Kabar fighting knives, A Tomahawk and a few smaller knives.

Got one of these too, love those concave blades but the kukri has a little something that talks to me if I can put it that way. I also got a hold of a place that you can actually order one and for almost as cheap but the wait time must be awful.

So it's either a kukri or one of those kershaw camp 10

Mike, I have a Colt knife just like yours.  First time I went out to Iraq the boys in the office gave it to me as a going away gift.  Dug a nice trough inside a  goat pen to get my big ass a bit lower when we had a bit of an argument with some homies out there!!

If I had the chance to go there or Nepal I wouldn't come back without one, these peoples know knives

Jesse
I normally prefer something like my Kabar as a back country knife I don't usually go for flashy or stainless knives. When I bought the Colt Pathfinder I planned on keeping it as a saltwater dive knife, but it has proven to be a tough workhorse of a knife and holds a decent edge too.
