"Dances with Wolves" & "How the West Was Won" - also recently ordered "High Plains Drifter"- the only Eastwood western  except "Paint Your Wagon" that I don't have.

I didn't care for "Dances with Wolves" so I don't have that one.  Never cared much for Kevin Costner.  I did watch "Open Range" again yesterday, think its an excellent film.  Of course Robert Duvall is a co-star of the movie, and usually anything Duvall is in is very entertaining.

I do have all the Clint Eastwood westerns except "Paint Your Wagon".

Well, not since Gene and Roy passed away, anyhow!!!
Although, Lee Marvin was surprisingly good in "Paint Your Wagon"!

I don't think I've even watched Paint Your Wagon. Clint Eastwood did a few fairly obscure movies as well one I saw a while back had him playing a wounded Union Soldier hiding out in a Southern girls school. That one didn't end well for Clint's character.

You need to get a copy.  Great movie!

"The Beguiled" is the civil war movie with Eastwood's wounded union soldier taken in by a Southern boarding school for girls.  At that time (1971) it was a different kind of role for Eastwood.  The movie was marketed as a Western - but there was nothing western about it.  I don't have a copy; have seen them for sale, but no interest.

HEH* - Got a copy of "The Beguiled" & another Eastwood flick "Coogans Bluff" where he plays an Arizona Deputy Sheriff sent to new York to extradite a killer back to Arizona.... Fun motorcycle chase at the end. 8)
As for Paint Your Wagon... Was surprised at Lee Marvin having a really neat basso-profundo singing voice. Eastwood was something of a cracked tenor. The movie had a hilarious climax where a longhorn bull wrecked the mining camp. ;D

"Paint Your Wagon" is definitely worth a look-see, if you didn't see the movie in the theater.  Just not one of my favorite Eastwood movies - but if he ain't smoking those short cigarillos and wearing that dirty Saltillo blanket - it just can't be one of my favorite Eastwood movies.

"What this town needs is some tarts!"

"What I discovered wuz that smokin' cigars and drinkin' whiskey are the 2nd and 3rd best things in the world!"

"They Call The Wind Mariah" and "Born Under A Wandering Star" are great songs presented in "Paint Your Wagon". Top notch!
