"SHOGUN" = Got the WHOLE Miniseries
« on: March 06, 2016, 03:03:30 PM »

Read the James Clavill book & was delighted when I had the chance to get the whole 4 Disk set of the TV Miniseries from 1980 = over 9 hrs viewing. Richard Chamberlin & Toshiro Mifune & Yoko Shimida do outstanding acting in their roles & the Cinimatography is great. Filmed entirely on location in Japan.
Most of the social history of the Western World, over the past three decades has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.

Great miniseries, I've read the book too From a historical standpoint the Mifune character Lord Toranaga is supposed to represent Ieasu Tokugawa founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate which ruled Japan for the next 250 years.
