Just got a Louis L'Amour Western on DVD
« on: February 23, 2016, 01:48:51 PM »

"The Quick & the Dead" Starring Sam Elliott Tom Conte & Kate Capshaw.
Great cowboy show...Strong plot resembelence to "Shane" &/or "Pale Rider"
Great casting, remember Elliott playing a strong role in "Gettysburg" & Capshaw in "Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom"... she did a lot less screaming in TQ&TD ;D
Fun flick.

I have a DVD of the movie that was copied from a video cassette.  I think I have all of the L'Amour movies on DVD (at least the ones with Sam Elliot and Tom Selleck).

Sam Elliot was our Senior Class Student body President at David Douglas High School in 1961. I was a freshman.

I read probably 80% of L'Amour's books by the mid 1970's, started while in the Air Force about 1968, maybe.

I started reading his books in grammar school - my Dad would buy them.  Later we found the bookmobile always had a good selection of his books.  Read them throughout my time in the Army.  Sad day when he passed away!!

Speaking of westerns I've discovered another excellent writer William A Johnstone, I've read four of his books so far all good reads.

I've read a couple of Johnstone's books too, so far I enjoyed all of them.

I've recently downloaded several of his books in Kindle format.  I'm enjoying re-reading them

Give anything by Frank O'Rourke a try, especially Shotgun Man, The Professionals, The Bravados and Gunhand.
