Thanks, I got home just in time to find a jury summons waiting for me. Came very close to being stuck on a jury for a trial estimated to run 3 weeks. I managed to get out of it pleading hardship. I've been called up every year for jury duty since my arrival in CA. Been called up a total of 12 times counting 3 states in my lifetime. Seems here in CA they use both voter registration and DMV records for their pool of potential jurors. Should be a law that exempts people for 5 or 10 years after being called up for jury duty, rather than allowing them to call the same people year after year.

I get called evert two or three years, only had to sit through one trial.  During jury selection I always let my feelings be known about crime and punishment.  Seems most defense attorneys don't want me around.

California, other than calling up the same people year after year isn't as bad as some states. Oregon was the worst in my experience. I ended up having to drive 35 miles each way for an entire week of jury selection. At the time I was driving a 1 ton Ford truck with a 460 ci engine. The $10 a day offered for jury duty didn't even come close to covering my fuel costs. Also had to close up my business each day while sitting through jury selection. The second week I was required to call in each evening to find out if I'd be needed for jury selection the following day. I figure that I've more than done my part over the years regarding jury duty.

I got out of it this time on a hardship due to health, but I'm still subject to being called up again next year.
